The Tournament

So, you have submitted your application and are selected for the shortlist by our Selection Committee. Congratulations! But what happens next?

In the first instance, you will be invited to an online interview with the Selection Committee. These interviews will take place the week of 15 – 27 March 2018 and the Selection Committee will draw up a list of those applicants who will progress to the next stage.

This is your time to shine as a game changer!

The Tournament will be hosted by a partnership of Wild Card incubators and EIT Health partners. We’ll be putting you to the test and observing how you, and those around you, react and adapt to turn innovative ideas into a reality.

This is all part of the selection process, for the Selection Committee to assess the capabilities and potential of each participant and to establish the final two teams who will go forward to receive funding and be supported by EIT Health to develop new business and ideas.

Shortlisted candidates will be invited for one-week tournament organized by:

  • BioInnovate – an EIT Health partner that helps start-ups accelerate into the market. Based in Galway, Ireland.
  • BioExel – a Wild Card incubator that specialises in the Irish MedTech. ased in Galway, Ireland.
  • Biocat – a Wild Card incubator that champions the healthcare and life sciences ecosystem. Based in Barcelona, Spain.

  • RISE – an EIT Health partner that supports innovation through research. Based in Stockholm, Sweden.

The Tournament will be hosted in Galway, Ireland.

Participants will be grouped into teams and work on the Wild Card Challenges. The incubators have designed dynamic programme that provides opportunities for learning about the different stages you will go through as part of your start-up: needs identification/market demand; concept development; prototyping; idea pitching and presentation.

The Tournament provides all participants with the opportunity to meet/make connections with the extensive EIT Health network. Our Partners, CLC staff and incubator colleagues will all be on hand to work with participant and provide their experience and expertise.

Not only that, but our incubators have also put together an itinerary of exciting activities that allow you time to discover the west of Ireland and get to know your team better.

We want the Tournament to be a rewarding experience for those who go on to the winning teams and for those who don’t succeed. We want participants to enjoy challenging themselves and their ideas, as well as meeting new people and making valuable contacts within the EIT Health network.
